Oxygen8 Communications has been chosen as Jukestream's mobile partner, providing the SMS infrastructure which is used to submit song requests and distribute the venue's promotional messages. This partnership allows pubs and clubs to utilise SMS services and connect with their customers through mobile, as Adam Castleton, Operations Director at Jukestream explains, "Through our research we have found that 70% of people are more likely to use a jukebox if they can request music by text message, presenting a great opportunity for pubs and bars to build a relationship with their customers through mobile. We therefore needed a mobile partner who could integrate with our system and provide the relevant support for pubs and bars to connect with their customers as well as build Jukestream's presence in the UK market – Oxygen8 have been able to do exactly that."

Castleton continues, "All the customer needs to do is send a message identifying the pub and the track/artist they want to hear and then the song is streamed to the venue via broadband. The integration with the Oxygen8 platform enables us to review the SMS message and if it is not in the correct format or we can't find a match we reply with a free SMS message to the mobile user. If we are able to find a match then we reply with a billable message and the track is played. Customers also opt-in to receive promotional messages from the venue but critically they are not charged to receive these messages and can opt-out at any time."
Initial figures have shown that over 90% of people are happy to receive promotional messages from their local pub, providing a secure and effective channel to sell more products into the customer base. Once a customer has successfully requested a song, they are far more likely to stay within the venue to hear it, which generates additional product sales for the venue.
It has also improved customer communication, as venues are now able to deliver key messages directly into the customer base and attract visitors back with tailored promotions.
